# Disconnector

A disconnector serves as the counterpart to a connector within the tokenization engine ecosystem, facilitating the disconnection of off-chain assets by burning the corresponding on-chain assets.

To initiate the disconnection process, the disconnector must possess both the associated ERC1155 NFT and an adequate amount of ERC20 tokens to cover the full value associated with that NFT. This requirement ensures a consistent 1:1 ratio between the aggregate amounts of NFTs and issued ERC20 tokens at all times.

It is important to recognize that disconnecting an asset is a permanent and irreversible action. However, a previously disconnected asset can always be reconnected by a connector, providing a new amount and associated audit data. This mechanism allows for the burning and subsequent reminting of assets with updated information prior to undergoing the audit process.

Notably, partial disconnections are disallowed within the system, emphasizing the recommended practice of connecting assets in sizes and configurations that align with their typical acquisition and disposition processes. For instance, when dealing with a real estate fund, it is advisable to connect and disconnect individual houses rather than entire suburbs to ensure operational efficiency and accuracy.
